Background

Radar SDM is a collaborative initiative between several University of Michigan departments by Professor Vitaliy Popov to develop a shared healthcare decision-making tool by using a SDM questionnaire. The app would contain the results of the questionnaire itself in comment and graph form as well as a reflection survey.

Details about the project can be viewed here.

Problem Statement

More often than not, the patient's treatment expectation does not align with that of the healthcare provider's. This difference in expectation fuels treatment dissatisfaction and raises the objective for interface design:

How to facilitate communication on a mobile app between the patient and provider so that their goals can agree? How to display each parties' values in the most intuitive way for decision making?

Proposed Solution

The proposed design features designs from the patient's portal, which contains two main components: the comments page and partnership page. In the comments page, patients are able to view comments of their own as well as their provider's to each of the questionnaire prompts.
The partnership page shows the areas of overlap between the patient's and the provider's response to the questionnaire on simple or detailed view, where simple view only shows overlap for questionnaire criteria while detailed view shows that of each questionnaire prompt.
